Farming at Collacombe
Agriculture in 2026
Collacombe is an in-hand farming estate in Devon focused on economically and environmentally sustainable practices. Guy and his family manage a diversified operation prioritising arable crops for hyper-local beef and dairy producers, biodiversity, renewable power generation, efficient rotations, and soil regeneration.
The farm's mission is to demonstrate that local-scale British agriculture can be both ecologically responsible and financially resilient (even given the vagaries of government policy and geo-political instability).
After retiring from tech, Guy decided to learn about agriculture before embarking on his new career, (which he has described as "not doing a Clarkson"). In 2021-2, Guy completed a post-graduate course at the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) in Cirencester, focusing on agritech and innovation. The course matched well with his daughter's agriculture BSc which she was completing at Plymouth University. She is now a farm consultant with Promar.

What is TerraMap and should it be used on Collacombe?
Here Guy reviews Hutchinson's TerraMap technology. A carbon and soil mapping product and service that could help measure carbon soil content and assist in identifying nutrient requirements for agronomists.
